Zeta Tau Alpha was founded October 15, 1898, by nine women at the State Female Normal School (now Longwood University)
in Farmville, Virginia. Only 14-15 years of age, these young women desired permanence to their friendships and hoped to
perpetuate their sisterhood long after college. The Founders chose the formal name, the patron goddess Themis, and the badge.
Today, ZTA is the third largest of the Panhellenic organizations, with 237 chapters across the country. Our chapter, Alpha Phi,
the 46th link in the chain of chapters, currently has 137 members. Our beautiful home is located in the sorority quads at
710 Emerson Street in Evanston, Illinois.
