Philanthropy
Our chapter of ZBT here at Northwestern prides itself on our philanthropy efforts, and community service has a lot to do with the way we see ourselves and what we represent on campus. For every year except the inaugural year of Northwestern's Dance Marathon philanthropy event, ZBT, along with partner sorority DG, has been the number one fundraising student group on campus. This past year was record breaking both in terms of campus-wide philanthropy and house fundraising; along with DG, ZBT led all student groups, raising more than $120,000, setting a new record for DM and also becoming the first group in history to break six digits. Dance Marathon, in turn, broke its all-time record for fundraising.
Every Spring, ZBT holds its annual philanthropy event called Fence-In. Celebrated in honor of John Michael Schatz, a brother who passed away from leukemia in 1992, this fundraiser for leukemia research raised over $12,000 this past year for the Leukemia Research Foundation, setting a second house record in '07-'08.
ZBT also won the award for philanthropy both for Northwestern's community (out of 17 chapters) as well as the Joseph E. Glaser award for philanthropy out of all the Zeta Beta Tau chapters in the nation.
The house looks forward to new philanthropic opportunities in the '08-'09 academic year.
