The Taiwanese American Students Club (TASC) was informally established in 1992, and the Associated Student Government recognized TASC as a student organization in January of 1994. Since then, TASC has grown from 8 members to an Associated Student Government A-status group with a mailing list that reaches more than 300 students. Our members include students of all backgrounds, Asians and non-Asians a like.
TASC was founded to provide a forum in which Taiwanese history, culture and current events could be openly celebrated and shared among all Asian Americans and the NU community at large. Because Taiwanese history is often overlooked or misunderstood, and Taiwan is usually just marginalized as a former colony of Japan or China, the founders of TASC hoped to create a community in which the Taiwanese culture could be discussed in its own light.
