The Piano Lounge is Shepard's best-looking common area. The baby grand Kawai piano is played beautifully at all hours and is in excellent condition. The room serves as a practice area for pianists and many student theater and music groups, as well as a meeting place for various other student groups. Student talent, musical and theatrical, is also periodically showcased here, in performances such as the Shepard coffee house. Also, dorm receptions for faculty, parents and students are usually held here.
