Some Information on Green Cup

What is Green Cup, and why do we have it?

Green Cup is a competition between dormitories to conserve per-capita water and energy use. The purpose of Green Cup is to spread awareness of how our energy habits impact our society and the environment. The idea is to encourage energy-saving and water-saving habits that we can all continue even after Green Cup ends.

Who competes?

Residence halls and colleges. The competition is divided into dormitories with and without dining halls.

How does it work?

We have already measured your dormitories' normal baseline electricity (kilowatt hours) and water use (cubic feet). We compare this use (per person) to your use during the competition and award points based on how much you conserve.

How do I know who's winning?

In the first couple weeks of the competition, we'll post the current standing of dorms and then update it regularly so that you can see how your dorm is doing.

What do I get?

Stay tuned for the great prizes we'll have this year!
