Sailing at Northwestern is a Club Sport. This means that, while the University Supports the team and we do charge dues, it is necessary for the team to raise our own funds. All team members are required to participate in fundraising events each quarter and can be found vending at football games, cleaning up after basketball games, writing thank you letters for the NU Alumni Association, and most noticeably taking people out sailing during our annual "Sail with a Sailor" fundraiser.
The Northwestern Sailing Team finished a successful season last spring and we look forward to continuing the momentum into this fall. We have been fortunate enough to have hired Arthur Blodgett, a recent graduate of Eckerd College in Florida, as our coach for this season. Arthur received an All-American Honorable Mention award while at Eckerd and was their captain and top skipper last year. He has also coached competitive summer teams and Pleon and Camden Yacht Clubs. While having a coach is very beneficial to both team members and the team itself, it is an new expense to our operating budget. In order to sustain our having a coach, we have stepped up our fundraising efforts and expanded our Advisory Board but these actions alone will not fully support the salary. We are now asking you to help us achieve our goal by making a tax-deductible donation to the team. Your donation will go straight to paying for our coach and making our team more competitive.
You can donate in one of two ways. You can either write a check payable to Northwestern University and send to:
