Welcome to the Northwestern University Rainbow Alliance! We are Northwestern's largest and most active group that deals with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and pansexual (LGBTQQIAP) issues. But don't think that you need to identify as a part of one (or more!) of these communities to hang out with some of the coolest people at Northwestern – we love our allies just as much! We aspire for Rainbow to be somewhere that everybody can find a place to fit in, no matter who they are. Everyone is welcome!
We hold meetings twice a month to talk about queer issues. The topics can range from dating advice for students who identify as queer to the way that the media portrays LGBTQQIAP individuals. Or we just have fun! We also bring two speakers to campus every year, one in the spring and one in the fall. And we put on what we believe to be the single greatest event that is produced by a Northwestern University student group – that is, the Drag Show, which takes place at the end of winter quarter, and which has taken place for well over a decade.
In addition to being a social group and a welcoming community, we are also advocates for all kinds of queer issues. So if you're passionate about these issues, you'll find a place where you can use that passion to help improve the lives of queer and ally individuals, both on and off campus. And if there's some issue that we're not tackling yet, bring it to our attention!
We love to hear from our members (or prospective members) so if you have any questions at all, or ideas on how to make Rainbow even more fabulous (which is saying something!), feel free to contact us or any member of the executive board. Our emails are on the website, and we promise that we won't bite!
We hope to see you around!
