Philosophical Investigations into Sexuality
GENERAL INFORMATION

The Northwestern University Queer Pride Graduate Student Association is hosting its sixth annual queer and sexuality studies graduate student conference on April 12-14, 2013, and this year’s theme is Philosophical Investigations into Sexuality.

This year’s keynote is Patricia Marino of the University of Waterloo (http://patriciamarino.org/). Professor Marino, who primarily works on ethics, philosophy of sex, and epistemology, is currently co-President of the Society for the Philosophy of Sex and Love.
Scholars from various philosophical traditions will be participating as well as those from other disciplines who work at the interfaces of philosophy and sexuality.
Queertopia! and Queergasm! are supported by the following Northwestern University organizations, institutions, grants: The Catalyst Grant and Professional Development Grant from The Graduate School, the LGBT Resource Center, Feinberg’s Queers & Allies, Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, Alice Kaplan Institute for the Humanities, and the departments of African-American Studies, Art History, Performance Studies, Philosophy, History, Art Theory and Practice, Screen Cultures and Radio, TV, and Film, and Gender Studies.

CHICAGO SEXFEST 2013
Queertopia! and Queergasm! are two of several events involved in the first annual Chicago SexFest. Chicago SexFest is a five year effort which includes festival of events presented in collaboration with universities, community activists and clinicians that increases knowledge and acceptance of the diversity of human sexuality and intimate relationships. Embracing human sexuality in all its forms as a positive, creative force, SexFest provides opportunities to learn about, engage and celebrate its own meaning in the personal, intellectual and spiritual lives of Chicagoans and their communities.
