Carla Barton
Get to know your executive board:President:Iza is a junior Political Science and International Studies major, exploring a minor in something Slavic. She studied at Uniwersytet Jagiellonski in the fall and loves Krakow. Iza lives on the south side of Chicago and her family is from the Podhale region. She is involved in Greek life on campus and loves to be introduced as "the Polish girl". Iza would like to go to grad school someday, possibly for Polish Studies. Vice President:Caroline Kulczuga. Caroline is a Psychology major originally from Chicago. She was the first in her family to be born in the U.S. Her mother is from Biecz and her father from Ostrowiec, while her sister was born in Warsaw. Her extended family still lives in Poland and she visits often. Caroline’s been involved with PASA since her freshman year at Northwestern. She currently serves as the vice-president.
Social Chair:Laura is a Political Science and International Studies major with a potential minor in Slavic Studies. She is originally from a suburb of Dallas, Texas where she was the only Polish person she knew at her high school. Laura is actually only half Polish, but since joining PASA has been unable to avoid immersing herself in the Polish culture. She is currently learning Polish and plans to travel to Krakow in the summer. She recently bought a Polish flag so her room will no longer be dominated by her roommate's huge French flag.
Treasurer:Agnieszka is a senior studying Spanish, International Studies and Business Institutions. She is originally from Zakopane but currently resides in Burr Ridge, a southwest suburb of Chicago. Aside from school, Agnieszka is an avid ballroom dancer and enjoys learning Portuguese, traveling around Europe and Latin America and eating savory ethnic cuisine.
Secretary:Piotr is a sophomore Materials Science & Engineering Major with a Design Certificate. Piotr was born in Poland but has lived in the US for almost his entire life, specifically in the nice warm state of Texas. He failed to pick up either a Texan or a Polish accent, but does keeps a warm place in his heart for all things Polish, especially food. He loves skiing, reading, good company, and long walks on the beach.
WebmasterTomek is a junior studying Math and Business Institutions. His family is originally from Lodz and Przemysl, but now his extended family all lives in Opole. He is the only one from his family so far to be born in the US and is proud of it. Tomek now lives in Normal, Illinois, a town in central Illinois, one which is contrary to the name, far from normal. Tomek enjoys most things Polish, the top things being food and "Czterej Pancerni i Pies." |
