How to Mount/Mat Photos
1.) Go to Blicks, or some other Art and Photography supply store.
2.) Buy something like this:
Savage Mat Mounts. In fact, here's a link to Blick's : www.dickblick.com (add /zz172/02/ to the end of the website and you'll get the mat
mounts). Its ridiculously cheap, something like $10 for a package of 5.
3.) Put your photo in between the carboard part on the bottom and the frameypart on top.
a.) Use something like rubber cement (which does not damage the photos) to put them on top of the mount (cardboard backing). Make sure it's in the center so you don't cover up part of the photo.
b.) Use more rubber cement (or tape, whatever) to glue the mat part to the mount part. Ideally, if you're doing a 8x10 photo, buy an 11x14 mount, so that the whole picture is visible. It's kind of hard to explain in writing, you really have to see it. Basically, just always go one size up (the mat/frame part is usually the size of whatever the difference is).
4.) Email Iza (i.gronski@u.northwestern.edu) if you have any more questions/need a demonstration.
5.) If you do not want to mail your photos to the museum, just give them to a PASA exec member. We will be putting up the displays in the museum so we can just hold on to them. But make sure its by the deadline!!
