President's Introduction PARC Executive Board Fellows 08-09 Recap Calendar
The Executive Board of PARC is comprised of 9 officers who are elected by the residents every year at the end of Winter Quarter. The elected positions include a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, Residential Affairs Liason, and chairs for philanthropy, social events, and academic activities. Each week the executive board meets with the Master and Assistant Master of the Residential College in order to discuss any issues within the dorm that need to be addressed. In addition to governing administrative issues, the board is the primary body for the planning of special events for the residents. Events such as Wildcat Welcome, Firesides, philanthropy events, and the Spring Formal are all planned by the members of the exec for the residents of PARC to enjoy.
In addition to working together on projects just for PARC, some of exec members serve on the larger Residential College Board. This board brings together the exec members from all of the different Residential Colleges in order to plan events that help students living in these facilities the opportunities to take advantage of events outside of their own Residential Colleges. Every quarter PARC and other Residential Colleges host cross-college events that allow residents to hear lectures from esteemed speakers in a wide array of subjects outside of public affairs. Also each year the board plans large events that are only available to students who live in Residential Colleges. An example of events that the board has planned includes a Fall Formal/Lake Michigan boat cruise, a lavish Halloween costume party at the Knickerbocker Hotel in Chicago, and the annual Field Day by the lake.
Together the PARC exec board and the Residential College Board work together to help provide for their residents not just a great place to live, but also an unmatched experience of learning and fun.
