Chicago Read Mental Health Center is the state in-patient psychiatric hospital that serves adults who are without funding. OASIS volunteers work one-on-one with individuals with psychiatric disabilities to support their academic aspirations * which may range from advancing their reading and math skills to earn their GED * to studying for the GRE * to learning basic Spanish. Each volunteer is paired with one student on a consistent basis, and they work collaboratively to set study goals and develop action plans on how best to meet those goals. Chicago Read Mental Health Center is near the Harwood Heights neighborhood, southwest of Evanston.
