Launch of I Screwed My GPA

I Screwed My GPA

There are times in life you pull off something memorable, something you feel particularly proud of, or something that encourages you to keep going. Chances are, those moments stick because you've pulled through a challenge, some rather grueling tasks to get there.

The 29th May official launch of the I Screwed My GPA DVD marked one of those moments. It was finally time to showcase the cumulative efforts of the Northwestern University Singaporeans & Friends (NUSAF). Encouraged by the positive response at the music video's first screening at SouthEast Asian Nite, we decided to take it a step further - put together a blooper reel, add a special bonus video & package it all nicely on a DVD - and create memories you can take home with you.

We had come a long way from the day Cheng Xun approached me with the request to embark on this project 3 months before. It was in the middle of Winter Quarter and on that first day of shoot out in the snow, we nearly had our NUSAF Boys turn into ice statues.

The turnout at the launch was really encouraging. Seeing friends seated in the audience all excited and knowing that they'd made the effort to grace the occasion, I couldn't help but feel warm and fuzzy inside. Standing on stage and getting to see the happy expressions on the faces of audience members as they watched our work is what truly makes all those hours worthwhile.

And as the applause chimed in at the end of the showcase, I knew that every pair of hands that came together in appreciation was for each and every one of the 36 people involved in the production. That's right, it's more than just about the finished product. It's about the journey; the journey that I could not possibly have completed without you; the journey that we completed together.

NUSAF, you've shown tremendous enthusiasm, contributed creative ideas and unleashed your hidden talents. For the time you sacrificed performing multiple times in front of a camera and singing into a microphone, for the fun and laughter brought with your crazy antics, for the lessons learnt and the memories created, I thank you.

If you were there at the showcase, or if you purchased a copy of our DVD, please accept my sincerest gratitude. Your support means more than you can imagine. I hope that years down the road, as you watch it over again, it'll warm your heart and put a smile on your face.

It's been a wonderful journey, my friends. Thank you.

With love,
Shuling
