Note: I was there but I'm just not a photo kinda guy.

Hmm.. I guess it is about time the technical director write something for his own website eh? Well, I’ve always been a big fan of unconventional x-games-ish sports like rollerblading and skating, so I was pretty darn pumped up for the snowboarding trip at Alpine Valley.

Let’s just say when we were done with the boring administrative stuff of dumping our bags and getting our gear, I was MAD hyped at the top of the baby slopes. With my usual, ‘How hard can this be?’ approach, I went down the slopes with my trusty snowboard on a high… and… crashed and burned. I fell perhaps up to 8 times on the way down the slope for little boys and girls. I was starting to regret not taking any lessons despite it being my first time snowboarding…

But sometimes, you just got to pick yourself up after being beaten up real bad and just keep on getting beaten up until the slopes are sick and tired of beating you up. With that mentality, a bit of physics and a piece of good advice from Eu-Wen (Wise men say: ‘Look where you are going’), the slopes at the EZ-RIDER ski lift became a piece of cake. I tried the Black Diamond ones (extremely hard slopes) a couple of times but sometimes you got to know when enough is enough.

The night was even crazier than the day. Even though I must say that some dudes chickened out way too early. I was pretty game to stop at 8-ish, but because of my Singapore genes that want to make full use of whatever opportunity that comes and a hardcore trio of CX, KX, Yee Hoong, we kept on going till 11pm. At the end of the night, my thighs hurt pretty bad from all the toeing and heeling but it was all good knowing that I’ve picked up another X-sport.

And let’s not forget the mad run back to our rooms without our shoes…
