21st.

Hey guys! Thanks again for have a surprise birthday celebration for me! Thank you Wanlin for organizing, and to all those who came! I totally did not expect this at all! (I guess that was the point, hahaha).
So, to recap what happened that day in all its glory detail, I started thinking a few days before my birthday of how to celebrate my big 21. Originally, I didn’t expect anything interesting to happen, and I thought a simple dinner out together on the fifteenth with Sandy was all(no, we are not gay, it’s just that our birthdays are one day separate from each other). But it was moved forward to the 14th, and I believed that there was nothing happening on the 15th. So, I just called up a few of my closest NUSAF people pretty late on that day, and asked them if they want to have dinner with me. Only KX, Yee Hong, and V had time(I called too late, everyone else was busy). So, we strolled down to Dave’s Italian Kitchen, and got some good pasta and spaghetti, and some good red wine (French wine, I Believe?). Yee Hong, however, was underaged (shocking, right?), and had to pull some sneaky maneuvers such as sipping from KX’s glass, to get at that goodness. It’s ok Yee Hong, one day you will be a man.
So after that dinner I thought: Done, over. That’s all I’ll probably expect from my 21st Birthday. But 2 hours after I settled down back in my dorm room, immersed in the drudgery of math equations, KX comes a-knocking, asking if I could help Jellybean out with moving some boxes. So I, the Good Samaritan, followed KX into the ISRC lounge, where I was literally ambushed with NUSAF faces and the happy birthday tune coming from the piano, played by Patrick. It was shocking and amazing, and I just felt like falling on the ground and fainting! Great Job Wanlin! The only thing I can complain about was the taopok, which was quite weak!!! But to say the truth, this was probably the biggest real gathering I’ve had for my birthday yet. So, I ended up eating more cake (I had already bought a cake from whole foods to split at the Italian Kitchen), chilled out for a while, and then played a few games of MJ with De Rui, JJ, and Zhuhui.
All in all, it was a wonderful time, and I felt very happy that night. I had never realized how open NUSAF was to people outside the circle, and felt honored to have attention lavished on me for this moment. You guys really made my 21st Birthday!
Thanks a bunch,
John Z Yang
