Curling Tournaments aka Bonspiels
Bonspiels are day- or weekend-long events, usually consisting of round-robin play in small brackets, with the top team(s) breaking out for the finals. They are a great way to meet others in the curling community in some friendly games. The NU Curling Club has participated in Regional and National College Bonspiels in the past, and hosted a Northwestern Bonspiel these past two years. Keep reading for more details on these!

National College Bonspiel

Date: March 2009
Location: Chicago and North Shore Curling Clubs
Every March, the college students from around the country gather at this bonspiel to duke it out on the ice. The Northwestern Curling Club has been sending multiple teams since 2005, with 4 teams entered last year. Luckily for us, this competition has been held right here in Chicago, on home ice. Congratulations to Blake Stevens (MatSci), Michelle Mok (MatSci), Jody Moser (Religion and Philosophy) and Shara Dellatore (ChBE) for taking gold in the 2nd division.

Northwestern Bonspiel

Date: March 2009
Time: 9:30AM - 5:30PM
Location: North Shore Curling Club
At the end of the season, we hold a Northwestern Bonspiel for those who have come out this year. This is a great opportunity for everyone to try out those curling skills gained this year in a competitive but fun setting. Congratulations to John DeFouw (MatSci), Jody Moser (Religion and Philosophy) and Wei Qu (MatSci) for taking the gold in 2008.
