What is NU-AID?

Northwestern University Alliance for International Development (NU-AID) is a unique student volunteer organization at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (NUFSoM) in Chicago, IL.

NU-AID provides much-needed primary medical care in underserved populations in Latin America and Jamaica, while providing a valuable educational experience for medical students and physicians at NUFSoM.

NU-AID’s mission?

  •  to provide free and compassionate primary medical care to rural populations in Latin America and in Jamaica.
  •  to leave a lasting impact on these communities by partnering with local non governmental organizations and emphasizing preventative medicine and health education.
  •  to provide a profound educational experience in tropical medicine and international health for NUFSOM students and physicians
  •  to share our experiences, lessons, and excitement with our colleagues in order to expose them to some of the barriers to quality health care that exist internationally and to inspire them to pursue similar projects throughout their careers.
