Introductory Letter

Dear delegates,

Our job during this conference will be to produce three issues of the conference newsletter, reporting on the debates, events, and resolutions that occur within each of the committees as well as on the events of the weekend as a whole. This responsibility will start as soon as you arrive Thursday evening – the issues come out Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Start to become familiar with the committees that will be in attendance, and the topics that will be discussed by browsing through the other sections on this Web site. Find a few that interest you — you will be assigned two or three committees for which you will attend session meetings. Also, in the IPC section of this Web site you will find a document we’ve put together on reporting and editing tips and guidelines. Please review it before the conference.

There are a few items you should make sure to bring along, if possible: pens, a notebook, laptop, digital camera, tape recorder and tapes, and an AP stylebook. (If you don’t have everything on this list, don’t worry! We’ll have some supplies available.) The business attire dress code applies to the IPC, same as the other committees.

Come with an idea of what you would like to name this year’s conference newspaper. We’ll be deciding the masthead during our very first session. Also, take notes during the opening ceremony, because we will be writing a group story on that event for Friday’s paper.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. See you in April!

Sincerely,

Neha thirani
