Topic B: Iraqi Reconstruction

The War in Iraq, opposed by many, has brought greater instability to our region. With the rise of the Iraqi insurgency, and growing terrorist influences, such as that of Abu Musab Al Zarqawi, it is essentially to discuss what kinds of aide we can give, and what we can do to help restore security to the region. The cost to the United States is set to be 251 Billion dollars by May 2006, not including the numerous innocent lives lost. However, what interests us as the Arab League, is the potential security threat the continued disorganization of Iraq poses to our nations. As we have seen, terrorist threats have already begun to spread, such as with the incident that occurred last year in Amman, Jordan. With continued disorganization and chaos in Iraq, this puts our nations at risk. What solutions can we find to help restore stability to the Iraqi People? Should we be responsible to help with financial aide for the Iraqi people? Should we send some of our own security troops to assist in military and security force reconstruction? The decisions we make are critical to our own security as growing discontent with the presence of foreign powers in Iraq threatens the security of our governments.
