EXPERIENCE.

Let our experience make yours better.

We are running for ASG President and Vice President because of two reasons: we love this school, and more than anything else, we want to make this school a better place. Our entire experience at Northwestern has been dedicated to tirelessly working to improve students' experience here. We're here to serve you.

What makes us different is that we are a true team. We believe in collaboration--collaborating not only with each other in ASG, but with YOU. As students, we all have the creativity, energy, and power to solve most of the issues we face. We want to listen to you, and work with you to find innovative solutions to common problems. We are the one team you can count on.

MEET MIKE

Current AVP, running for President.

This past year as Academic Vice President, I worked to put ASG's focus back on the students. I have provided innovative solutions to improve students' day-to-day lives:

  • Created the Northwestern Undergraduate Research Database (NURD) (http://www.asg.northwestern.edu/nurd)
  • Created the ASG Peer Academic Link (ASG PAL) (http://www.asg.northwestern.edu/asgpal)
  • Created the first-ever ASG Academic Advising Fair
  • Lobbied for iTunesU at Northwestern
  • Lobbied for the Center for Civic Engagement at Northwestern
  • Executed a successful Faculty Honor Roll that awarded a record number of professors and administrators

I have also helped make ASG a more efficient organization:

  • More than doubled the membership of the Academic Committee
  • Helped create the position of Vice President
  • Increased ASG's brand appeal by designing the "ASG's Little Instructions for Life at NU" poster

My passion has been working on minority enrollment initiatives at Northwestern for the past three years:

  • Helped plan and run a program that brought 72 CPS students to NU for an overnight visit
  • Lobbied for the Questbridge Scholars program which targets talented low-income students to come to NU
  • Lobbied for the no-loan program which takes the burden of low-income student loans
  • Have been on numerous panels speaking to prospective students from different schools and cities across the nation

I've chosen to immerse myself in many diverse communities at Northwestern:

  • Dance Marathon - 3 years of experience as a dancer, Food Committee and Advertising Committee member
  • FMO, the Black Student Alliance - Served as the Graduate/Alumni Liaison
  • Public Affairs Residential College (PARC) - Social chair
  • WCAS Student Advisory Board

MEET TOMMY

Current Operations Director, running for Vice Pres.

I went above and beyond my role as ASG Operations Director, driven to provide services that make students' lives easier:

  • Created the ASG Airport Shuttle and ASG Rideshare, which has already saved Northwestern students $30,000
  • Currently leads the Alcohol Safety Taskforce, a joint student-administrator committee that seeks to improve the safety of alcohol use on campus. Initiatives on this taskforce include everything from improving university policies and programs to improving alcohol safety education.

As the Operations Director, I spearheaded organizational reform to dramatically improve ASG efficiency:

  • Created and oversaw the execution of the "Agenda for Change" for the entire organization
  • Created a sustainable recruitment and transition structure
  • Created and led a ten-person committee devoted to improving the operations within ASG
  • Helped create the ASG Winter Campaign to listen students' ideas for ASG and turn them into action

I also bring unique experiences outside of ASG that enable me to work well with others:

  • Founded the philanthropy program for Delta Upsilon Fraternity, and served as the former President
  • Consulted for campusCATALYST, a student-driven consulting corps for non-profits
  • Worked for Goldman Sachs this past winter
  • Second generation American - Half of my family currently lives in Argentina and Uruguay
