Assalaamu alaikom everyone! Welcome class of 2015 and congratulations on being accepted to Northwestern! I'm Kawther Albader, the McSA secretary, and it is my pleasure to be one of the select few cool people welcoming you into Northwestern this year. In other words, you'll be seeing a lot
of me and I'll be helping you with pretty much everything you need next year. Seriously - anything you need. So why join the McSA? Oh, let me count the ways. Maybe it's because you'll meet your future best friends while painting the rock during Islam Awareness Week. Maybe it's because of the countless hours you'll spend chilling at the MCC with them, convincing yourself you're studying but secretly knowing better. Maybe it's because you'll find yourself studying at arguably the best location in the library (which will be disclosed only to McSA members). Maybe it's because you'll find yourself at the lake one night for Fajr and realizing how beautiful this campus is. Or maybe it's because you'll find a new home away from home at the "House" or its girl-equivalent, the "Dollhouse". But it'll probably be because you'll quickly see that the McSA is more than a religious or a cultural organization. It's a community that cares about each other. More specifically, we're family that enjoys making fun of each other only second to being Muslim on campus. Remember that you will grow up in college. You will change and you will learn a lot about yourself. Throughout it all, the McSA will always be there for you, holding shawarma in one hand, hummus in the other. We can't wait to meet you all and welcome you to Northwestern.
Peace & falafel,
Kawther Albader
