VOTE FOR MIKE THIS TUESDAY, APRIL 15TH on NULINK!
Hi, I'm Michael McGee. Growing up in Freeport, Illinois, I’d always been
interested in discovering the world beyond the limitations of small town
life. I am thrilled to be at Northwestern and as a sophomore pursuing
degrees in Political Science and RTVF, I’ve found that my time outside
the classroom—being involved in different activities on campus—is just
as important as the time I spend on academics.
What I have also realized over my two years at Northwestern is that students have the ability to bring about change on this campus in a manner that is not simply limited to lobbying the administration. I’m convinced that when we, as students, see room for improvement and decide to actively pursue a solution, we can truly leave Northwestern better than we found it.
VISION
As Academic Vice President, Mike will transform the Academic Committee. This committee has
been plagued with failure to follow through on planned projects, lack of efficiency and motivation,
and chronic abscences from members. Instead of merely passing legislation in the ASG Senate, Mike
will bring important projects to fruition - he understands the importance of putting lofty rhetoric
into action.
Mike strongly believes in working with all parties - students, faculty and administration - when planning and implementing projects, rather than crafting a proposal and ineffectively lobbying the administration after the fact. His platform is a perfect example of how Mike will run the Academic Committee: he spoke to dozens of faculty members, university administrators and concerned students to assess what change is needed and how to go about it. It is not just a "wish list," but a carefully-crafted plan for improvement.
