Are you interested in learning a traditional Japanese martial art? Strengthening your body as well as your mind? Having fun, making friends, and learning something new? Check out the NU Karate Club!
The club is open to students, faculty, staff, and other members of the Northwestern University community. The club teaches Shotokan karate three times a week at the Evanston campus. In addition, the club sponsors an annual collegiate competition, seminars, social functions and charity events. No previous experience in martial arts is necessary to join the club, and beginners are always welcome.
If you're interested in the club or have any questions, stop by during any of our practices or contact one of the club officers. To get a better sense of what it's like to be part of the club, you can also check out our first quarter syllabus, the membership duties and join the listserv.
For those with previous experience, we welcome all practitioners of traditional Japanese karate. A number of the students and instructors are members of the AAKF/ITKF, but the club is open to members of other affiliations (ISKF, WKO, etc.) and unaffiliated dojos.
