Under radar but we're back again

Nationals this weekend, let's rock and roll

Got our game face on and fire in our soul

Huck it deep, layout score

O this is what we live for!

Talia Strait

we all know nelly's got the heart of a champion

and the blood, the sweat, and the tears,

but if you've ever wanted to see a champion in action

well then, this is the year.

we've got the skills and the style

and intensity you have to feel

so get ready, nationals,

because gung ho is kind of a big deal.

I'ma rep my team,

I'ma talk it up,

We are Gung-Ho,

We're gonna tear it up.

We fly under the radar,

We're making a comeback,

Careful where you step,

We're on the attack.

We got hops and ups,

We got demon speed,

We got spirit and throws,

Luck ain't something we need.

We're ready to play,

We don't need no sleep,

Our squad is thirty,

We Hos roll deep :p

Brooke Stanislawski

We drive, fly, and walk to games near and far

To win every game and raise the bar

We get down and dirty

They scream "don't hurt me!"

Ready to dominate nationals we are!

The wind blew swiftly over the plains,

Cold, and blustery, endless snow.

Look at those people, so insane,

it's the great women of Gung-Ho!

Some whisper- look at those rookies!

I hear they have fifty or so.

Others just want to toss their cookies,

when they see how well Miller can throw.

They've got an ex-freshman of the year,

and a captain playing with a broken bone.

No matter what, Ho's persevere,

and they throw a pretty killer zone.

I will conclude my rhyme,

with one last shout.

Great Lakes, Great Times!

See you in Madison, over and out.

NORTHWESTERN GUNG-HO!

Katie A. Raynolds

Forehand, backhand, inside out

Throw it far so I can lay out

Backhand, forehand, outside in

Huck it deep so we can win!

Dump, swing, breakmark throw

Give a dishy, give and go,

Get a D, get a callahan,

Guard the lane or guard your man

Any way, any play

When it comes to ultimate, I must say

Ill play forever, til I lose my knee

As long as someday I get a layout D!

Kelsey Watterworth

The Hos of the Lake are here to play,

at the top is where they like to stay.

With funny characters on their chests,

it's Northwestern Ultimate at its best!

Through wind, rain, sleet, and snow

the Hos of the Lake do throw.

Bundled up to the tee,

all opponents run and flee.

With too many rookies to discern,

and a number of rules for them to learn,

the Hos of the Lake never back down,

and under pressure, they don't dare frown.

Some can throw the disc out of sight,

and others are injured left and right.

No matter what, they will not fall,

The Hos of the Lake will always stand tall!

If Ultimate were

candy, it would be chocolate:

always delicious.

We call ourselves Ho's

With chiding affection

Captain's direction

Windy practice on the lake

Now zone points we take

We're Northwestern Gung-Ho

And we're ready to go,

These last few practices to perfect

What we have, what we're gonna show.

We've been under the radar,

But we've been raising the bar,

Just wait until Natties,

We'll show you who we are.

Win or lose, we're bringing our game,

To our team name, we'll add acclaim,

We're gonna fight 'til the very end,

We're not leaving with any shame.

Our team's got heart,

It's what sets us apart,

We'll see y'all at Natties,

I can't wait to take part!

Welcome to the Gungho Poetry Slam! In a creative effort to win the team Five hoodies, here are some spectacular poems written by the girls of Gungho:

Samantha Thompson

We practice through the fall, winter and spring,

Preparing to be the next big thing.

We cut, we throw, we even lay out,

This is what Gung Ho is all about.

Suicides, kill drill, and triangle of death,

Damn it feels good to be out of breath.

Our perseverance will never rest--

We strive to be the BEST.

Sectionals champions - what a breeze,

Then first regionals was a tease.

Back-doored regionals take two and then--

Here we come Natties twenty-ten!

Angel Li

Adrenaline starts to flow throughout her body

As her steps get quicker

And hit the soft, green grass.

With her arms pumping,

And heels nearly kicking her butt

She bypasses her defender,

Sprinting past girls on the field

And heads toward the handler with the disc.

Their eyes meet;

She continues to run noiselessly,

With adrenaline pumping in her ears.

It’s coming closer and closer—

Her eyes never leave the disc

From a small white slit,

To a big spinning wheel,

Whirling at an unimaginable speed.

She catches it.

Score.
