Graffiti Dancers is Northwestern University's premiere and most eclectic dance ensemble. After three decades of performing and choreographing, Graffiti continues to create exciting and boundary-pushing dance, attracting large audiences to entertain and inspire. Using the mediums and cross-sections of jazz, modern, ballet, hip-hop, and tap, Graffiti has created innovative pieces ranging from satirical contemporary ballet, to political dance-theater, to entertaining and sexy jazz. Graffiti continues to produce high-energy shows filled with all forms of dance, entertaining, provoking, challenging, and inspiring each member of our company and each member of our audience.
Graffiti Dancers is a completely student-run dance company, meaning we, and all that we do, are directed, produced, choreographed, and performed by students. We typically have 15-18 dancers (not limited to females), all of whom have a good deal of training and experience in ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, and tap. Though not everyone has experience in all of these dance forms, every dancer has his or her own strengths. These diverse strengths are what make us one of the most versatile dance groups on campus, providing the company with unique and individual voices that integrate into one community and allow us to connect with a broad audience through our performances.
