Delta
Academy
In 1999, Theta Alpha implemented the National Service Project,
Delta Academy, which is a national mentoring program for girls
aged 11 to 14, with a programmatic focus on Math and Science.
This year, the mentors and mentees have become involved in activities
such as learning how to use the Internet as a resource, making
Power Point presentations, and presenting their projects. In
addition to the academic activities, the program emphasizes
sisterhood and service. Theta Alpha members along with serving
as mentors, develop lasting friendships with the young ladies.

ANNUAL SERVICE PROJECTS
May
Week
A week in May is selected to emphasize scholastic achievements,
educational opportunities and cultural awareness. Theta Alpha
celebrates May Week during the first week of May, sponsoring
educational workshops and firesides.
Jabberwock
Scholarship Ball
Delta Jabberwock is an annual scholarship ball culminating May
Week activities. Theta Alpha has held a Scholarship Ball since
1971, giving out at least two $500 scholarships to deserving
high school seniors. Last year, Theta Alpha provided five scholarships
to deserving scholars.
Toy
Drive
Theta Alpha began sponsoring a Toy Drive in 1995. This event
allows the Northwestern community to help make the holiday season
a happy one for less-fortunate children. Toys donated at the
Toy Drive are given to children's centers in Africa. Because
of the Toy Drive's overwhelming success, Theta Alpha opted to
make this an annual event.
