Investment Management Group

We aspire to raise awareness of the investment management industry among the undergraduate student body and provide opportunites to network among students, alumni, and investment management institutions.

NORML-SSDP

Since its founding in 1970, NORML has provided a voice in the public policy debate for those Americans who oppose marijuana prohibition and favor an end to the practice of arresting marijuana smokers. A nonprofit public-interest advocacy group, NORML represents the interests of the tens of millions of Americans who smoke marijuana responsibly. As a campus chapter of NORML it is our goal to move public opinion, at Northwestern University and the surrounding communities, sufficiently to achieve the repeal of marijuana prohibition so that the responsible use of cannabis by adults is no longer subject to penalty. We also seek to represent to the best of our ability SSDP: Students for Sensible Drug Policy is an international grassroots network of students who are concerned about the impact drug abuse has on our communities, but who also know that the War on Drugs is failing our generation and our society. SSDP mobilizes and empowers young people to participate in the political process, pushing for sensible policies to achieve a safer and more just future, while fighting back against counterproductive Drug War policies, particularly those that directly harm students and youth. In a combined effort of these two organizations, we seek higher understanding our own political system and the consequences that arise from faulty legislation and its overall impact on our society.

Northwestern Art Review

The Northwestern Art Review (NAR) was founded in Winter 2007 to produce an undergraduate publication focusing on art history. We strive to spark interaction in the academic community, provide a formal presence to channel discourse, and enhance undergraduate opportunities for publishing their work.

Northwestern Model Arab League

Started in 1983 as a one-time simulation at Georgetown University, the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations' Model Arab League (MAL) has since grown to include 2,500 students at over 200 universities and secondary schools participating in 16 models throughout the U.S. every year. Acting as delegates of the 22-member states of the League of Arab States, MAL students debate the political, economic, and social issues that real diplomats wrestle with daily. At conferences, the delegates draft and vote on resolutions that seek to address the Arab world’s most pressing challenges. In addition to competing at regional and national conferences, MAL at Northwestern is deeply committed to fostering an understanding of the Middle East from an Arab perspective through regular meetings and educational lectures on-campus. This alternative perspective is vital to a deeper appreciation of the Arab world’s complex issues. Our hope is that MAL will encourage and equip its members and Northwestern students to critically analyze and question practices and policies both within the Arab world and between Arab nations and the international community.

Peer Health Exchange

PEER HEALTH EXCHANGE PARTNERS WITH PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS THAT LACK HEALTH EDUCATION: PHE works with high schools that lack health education and in which the majority of the students live at or below the poverty line. These students experience a disproportionate number of serious health risks ranging from teenage pregnancy to obesity. PEER HEALTH EXCHANGE TRAINS COLLEGE STUDENTS TO TEACH A COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CURRICULUM IN THESE SCHOOLS: PHE recruits, selects, and trains college student volunteers to teach high school students a comprehensive health curriculum consisting of twelve standardized health workshops on topics ranging from decision-making and sexual health to substance abuse and nutrition. Several studies demonstrate that teenagers better absorb health information when it is delivered by educators of a similar age as opposed to adult educators. 74% of PHE high school students said that having college students lead PHE workshops helped them learn about the health topics. As slightly older peers, PHE volunteers provide the benefits of peer education while also conveying the advantages of traditional instruction. They deliver health information to teenagers in a language and context that is relevant to their everyday experiences, yet they can also serve as role models, demonstrating healthy behaviors and the successful transition from high school to college. PEER HEALTH EXCHANGE GIVES TEENAGERS THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS THEY NEED TO MAKE HEALTHY DECISIONS: In the classroom, PHE high school students articulate their values and goals, learn basic, accurate health information, explore attitudes and perceptions of peer norms and peer pressure, analyze the influence of culture and the media on health, discuss barriers to healthy behaviors and strategies to overcome them, and identify and learn how to use the health resources in their communities. PHE volunteers help high school students practice skills such as effective communication, risk evaluation and prevention, limit-setting, and decision-making in role-plays and scenarios that resemble difficult, real-life situations. By applying the skills they learn in PHE workshops outside of the classroom, PHE high school students can make informed decisions that will help them stay and excel in school, join and remain part of the workforce, and become healthy adults capable of producing healthy families.

Russian Student Association

Russian Student Association aims to maintain a Russian presence on campus and to provide Northwestern students and faculty with opportunities to experience Russian cultural and academic events as well as social activities. These events allow us to promote awareness and to educate about Russian culture, history, politics, traditions, and current events. We strive to promote collaboration between the American and Russian cultures, which is especially imperative in light of recent tension between the United States and the Russian Federation.

We promote education and spiritual growth; and provide opportunities for service and leadership within the academic setting. Our mission is to transform society by renewing our faith and inviting others to know Christ.
