The lovely ladies of the 'Fly' Gamma Chi chapter have upheld the prestigious reputation of being a socially conscious and community leadership driven organization for almost forty years. We are dedicated to reaching the community with weekly, monthly and quarterly service oriented projects and other programming that align with our national program targets of Education, The Black Family, Economics, Health, and the Arts. Some of Gamma Chi's many community outreach projects are the Annual Scholarship Ball honoring area high school seniors, the North Suburban Area Project tutoring and mentoring program, the Y-Me Breast Cancer Walk, Hilda's Place Soup Kitchen outreach, O.A.S.I.S. Carnival, and annual Mother's Day celebrations at Ebenezer Prim Nursing Home. In addition, we have our annual SKEE Week in the spring with a full week of programming, including the Mr. AKA Pageant. CHC Psychiatry Clinic

The CHC Psychiatry Clinic strives to 1) raise awareness among medical students about mental health needs among the patients at CHC, 2) provide an opportunity for medical students to work with Northwestern residents and physicians in providing community-based psychiatric care at CHC and 3) respond to an unmet need for psychiatric health services at CHC. CHC Psych is the only student group at Feinberg that seeks to provide psychiatric care in a vulnerable population.

Chicago Graduate Student Association

CGSA is a graduate student organization encompassing the Integrated Graduate Program, Medical Scientist Training Program, Northwestern University Institute for Neuroscience, Genetic Counseling, Clinical Psychology, and Physical Therapy. CGSA provides a forum to address the academic, social, and political needs of Chicago campus graduate students, and promotes interactions with the Evanston campus.

China Care

China Care is interested in supporting and saving the lives of abandoned Chinese orphans. We raise money to sponsor adoptions and surgeries for orphans that need them and we run a playgroup and a mentorship program for adopted orphans in the greater Chicago area. The money we raise goes to individual children, children with names and faces.

Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA)

Northwestern University Chinese Student and Scholar Association, founded in 1982, is now the largest and most influential international student group on campus. It is recognized by the Graduate School and the Graduate Leadership Council. NUCSSA aims at supporting Chinese students and scholars, promoting cultural exchange and cultural diversity at Northwestern University as well as in Chicago area. We sincerely welcome all students, scholars and friends from all background to join us and have fun. You will get a chance to meet new friends and appreciate Chinese culture. NUCSSA hosts activity and service events every month, including two major annual events: Moon Festival and Chinese New Year Celebration, which become two of the largest student events at Northwestern University. Moon Festival party is an outdoor event features Chinese Cuisine Appreciation, Karaoke Competition, Chef Competition and bonfire party. The 2006 Mid-autumn Festival is held at the lakefill; more than 400 people including university officers, faculty members, students, scholars and friends from Chicago area attended the event. The 2007 Chinese New Year Celebration is the first largest performance successfully hosted by NUCSSA members. We have more than 60 talented Northwestern students performed on this show and more than 20 invited guests from Chicago area. The two-hour performance features Chinese dancing, singing, instrument, comedy show, comedy dialogue, and fashion show. Around 500 people joined NUCSSA family to celebrate the exciting moment for the Chinese New Year. NUCSSA is also an active member in building the Chinese community around Chicago area. We successfully directed and hosted the very first Chicago-Land Chinese Student and Scholar Spring Festival in 2006, with the support from six brother universities around Chicago area. Initiated and promoted by NUCSSA, this event now becomes an annual event for all the universities in Chicago land. Club Fencing Team

Northwestern’s Club Fencing Team is an intercollegiately competitive team open to both experienced and beginning fencers. We have a top notch coaching and conditioning staff and equipment will be provided to those who need it. Practice during the competitive season is Monday through Friday.

Consultants Advising Student Enterprises (CASE)

C.A.S.E., or Consultants Advising Student Enterprises, is NU's first and only student group dedicated to helping other NU student groups solve their toughest strategic problems, and providing opportunities for students to gain real consulting experience in the process. Since beginning operations in late April 2008, we have helped one organization increase expected attendance at their annual bake sale by 100%, and helped two students raise $3000 in a week for a worthy cause. Cycling Team

We compete as a Division I member school of the NCCA (National Collegiate Cycling Association) against other colleges across the country. Training continues year-round and the best way to stay in touch with the team is through the group web site and listserv. Feel free to email any of the officers listed. The highlights of our year take place during the spring road racing season from February to May. In 2007, we finished 18th as a team at Division I Nationals including one podium finish in the men's criterium.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Theta Alpha Chapter)

On January 13, 1913, 22 undergraduate women on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. started a revolution of their own, with the creation of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. True to its mathematical symbol, Delta has been committed to social change for almost a century. In the spirit of their founders, the Theta Alpha Chapter, on Northwestern’s campus, was chartered on January 9, 1971. Today, the dynamic women of the Theta Alpha Chapter range from activists, pageant participants, magazine editors to researchers and sports journalists. Known on campus for their service as well as their overall leadership, the chapter keeps the community at the heart of their initiatives. Not a day goes by (literally) when they are not doing community service, social action, or politically-oriented programming. With their four weekly service projects, they implement their national Five-Point Thrusts: Educational Development, Economic Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement. The chapter has been nationally recognized for such programs as the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy, "The Cost of Frontin’" Financial Fortitude Workshop, and "Touch the Sky" College Preparatory Workshop (in collaboration with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.). Annual events include (but are not limited to): Dessert with the Deltas, Fall/Spring Service Forum, HIV/AIDS Testing and Awareness Workshop, Founders Day Sip, May Week, and the Jabberwock Scholarship Ball. This award-winning chapter continues to raise the bar, defining themselves as far more than a social club—but a sisterhood committed to community service, social justice and the empowerment of youth.

This is a student group pertaining to Diet and Health. We will explore various diets and eating methods for a healthy living. As well as nutrition, we will explore various exercise and fitness activities that people use to stay healthy and in good shape. Flicker Film Festival

The Flicker Film Festival is Northwestern's own annual international film festival. The event showcases dozens of student films from across the country and around the world. A prominent artist in the film industry opens the festival with a lecture, and films are shown for three days. Prizes are awarded to winners in several categories.

Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children

FIMRC is an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of children around the world by providing both direct and indirect medical support. Our foremost goal is to provide children with the most basic medical needs by raising funds for and donating medical equipment and supplies to pediatric hospitals and clinics.

Fourtunes Fools

Fourtunes Fools is Northwestern's only barbershop quartet. The quartet is the repeating collegiate champion in the Illinois District, having recently won the 2003 title as well as having won it in 2002. Freshman Urban Program

The Freshman Urban Program is a pre-New Student Week activity open to all incoming students of Northwestern University. FUP is an introduction to the neighborhoods within Chicago and Evanston. The program examines the issues that face these communities, the organizations that serve them and the means by which Northwestern students can effect change. FUP employs the theory of Asset-Based Community Development in teaching participants about issues as varied as housing, education, health care, politics, gentrification and community organizing. During this five day program, participants will stay in a youth hostel in Chicago's Loop area. From there they will be dispatched to volunteer at community centers, urban schools, homeless shelters and advocacy organizations throughout the city. Northwestern faculty and various community leaders will lead discussions on a variety of issues facing urban communities.

The Global Engagement Summit builds the capacity of its staff and participants to engage with new communities and partner in shared global problem solving. Materials Science Club

Primarily for students involved in the Materials Science and Engineering Department, the MatSci Club brings students together for speakers, social outings, and outreach events at local schools. Minorities in Pursuit of Law and Business

The Society of Minorities in Pursuit of Law and Business is the only law and business pre-professional organization geared specifically to the minority student's interests at Northwestern University. Since the re-establishment in 2001, the group has educated Northwestern's minority community on the opportunities available in the law and business fields, and provided necessary resources to help our members get ahead in the professional world. Mock Trial Team

Mock Trial, a student-run organization, offers team members the opportunity to improve their public speaking abilities, analytical skills and trial advocacy techniques all while experiencing the drama of a fictitious courtroom. Mock Trial is perfect for those with a competitive spirit, offering students the opportunity to travel to tournaments all across the country. Informational Sessions for this season are September 23 at 7 pm in the Big Ten Room at Norris, and September 24 at 7 pm in the Northwestern Room at Norris.

MOC & WOC: Commuter Organization

MOC & WOC (Men Off Campus & Women Off Campus) is Northwestern's only organization dedicated to commuters and off-campus students. Dating back to the 1940s, MOC & WOC's goal is to foster community and create an identity and sense of belonging for commuters at Northwestern. We host numerous social events, run the Commuter Orientation during New Student Week, and advocate for commuter issues.

Mortar Board is an honor society dedicated to promoting scholarship, leadership, and service and has been a positive force on campus and in the Evanston community since 1922. This year our organization will be focusing on education. We will be raising money to support a charter school in Chicago and will also be working with First Book - a charity that encourages youth literacy by providing underprivileged children with reading materials. Northwestern Ladycats Dance Team

The Northwestern Varsity Dance Team -- a.k.a. The Ladycats -- is a varsity team that is supported by the Northwestern Athletic Department. We actively perform and practice throughout the fall, winter and spring. The team competes at UDA College Spirit Camp each summer, as well as at the UDA College National Dance Team Championship in Orlando each January. Most recently, the Ladycats competed in the final round of the championship in January 2007, ultimately finishing 15th! Additionally, the Ladycats cheer and dance at all home football and basketball games, and participate in additional appearances, performances, and philanthropy events throughout the year.

Northwestern News Network (NNN)

NNN is the twice-weekly, student-run television news broadcast for Northwestern. Shows run on Mondays and Wednesdays and can be viewed online at the website or on Evanston Cable channel 6. Any student may contribute to the broadcasts.

Northwestern Solar Car Team (NUsolar)

Founded in 1998, the Northwestern University Solar Car Team is an undergraduate student organization working to design, build, and race solar electric vehicles for competition in the North American Solar Challenge and Formula Sun Grand Prix races. The team is composed of three fundamental areas: Operations, Research and Development, and Business. NUsolar gives students an opportunity to become better engineers by teaching practical engineering skills in working with budgets, deadlines, and real world problems in addition to developing valuable leadership skills. Northwestern Syllabus Yearbook

Syllabus, founded in 1885, is the official undergraduate yearbook of Northwestern University. Published by SPC (Students Publishing Company) and run by Northwestern students, Syllabus seeks to include memorable events and highlights of each year as well as campus groups, organizations and living units. All graduating seniors are invited to have their portrait taken and included in a senior section. Syllabus yearbooks are delivered on campus in May of each year. The 2009 yearbook will be available on campus in May!

Northwestern Undergraduate Art History Society

The Northwestern Undergraduate Art History Society (NUAHS) is devoted to creating a community of art history majors, minors, faculty, and enthusiasts. The powerlifting club is a competitive organization for anyone in the northwestern community with an interest in powerlifting or Olympic style weightlifting. Phi Mu Alpha is Northwestern University’s only music fraternity for men. The Magellan Institute

The Slam Society

The Slam Society is Northwestern University's open forum on performance poetry. The Slam Society follows a "flashmob poetry" philosophy where its audiences manifest wherever there are performers. The Slam Society offers no prizes or rewards for participation in its events but rather hopes that by holding events for amateurs and veterans alike, sponsoring trips to poetry readings in the community, and spreading the appreciation of spoken word the poets among us can perform their original works to welcoming and supportive audiences so they may develop their talents.

The Titanic Players

The Titanic Players are the top long-form college improvisers in the country. Trained by profesionals from Second City and Improv Olympic each of the three teams perform totally improvised comedic pieces up to an hour long each. A whole new team is auditioned every fall.

Thunk

THUNK is Northwestern's premier co-ed a cappella group. The group arranges all of their own music and records cd’s, allowing members to develop both their musical talents and vocal abilities. After their tour to Cape Town, South Africa in 2005, THUNK has created The Cape Town Project – a music education tour and performing arts camp in the townships of Cape Town in conjunction with the “Ikamva Labantu” charity for mothers and children suffering from HIV/AIDS. WildKatz Klezmer Band

NU's only klezmer band, playing a mix of Eastern European Jewish music and jazz. All are welcome, weekly rehearsals and occasional performances for pay. No prior experience is necessary.

Willard Residential College

Located on South Campus, Willard is Northwestern's largest Residential College. It houses up to 290 residents, the majority of which are freshmen and sophomores. Some of the events for which Willard is famous are the annual Willard Formal and Polka Party, its enthusiastic participation in Dance Marathon, and the Spring Luau.

Wine Culture Club

The Wine Culture Club seeks to educate graduate students about the many aspects of wine while offering opportunities for students to meet their peers. Through guest speakers and wine tastings, we explore historical, cultural, health, and culinary topics related to wine.

Women's Club Ice Hockey

The Northwestern Women's Club Ice Hockey Team was founded in 1998 to promote the sport of women's ice hockey on Northwestern's campus and to allow prior hockey enthusiasts a chance to continue playing. Women's ice hockey is a fast-paced, non-checking game, involving a high level of teamwork; it's a great source of healthy exercise, and undeniably exciting. Our team is made up of players with vastly different backgrounds, experiences and abilities in hockey - some have played on competitive travel teams, all-star teams, regional teams, high school teams, or men's teams, while other players include former figure skaters and women who had never played prior to college. We strive for a fun environment, but we also pride ourselves in being competitors; we often finish seasons first in our division and even as Women’s Central Hockey League (WCHL) Champions. We welcome any and all girls who have played hockey in the past or have a strong interest in it, we just ask that you're willing to skate hard shifts for the squad. So lace up your skates, and we'll see you on the ice.

Women's Residential College

Hobart House is the Women's Residential College located in the South Quad across the street from the Arch. WRC is one of the friendliest places at Northwestern with students from diverse nationalities/ethnic heritages and large, enviable rooms. The Hobartian community also includes fellows from many different schools and departments who attend weekly lunches and provide informal advising.

Women's Rugby

The team practices twice a week and then has matches (typically in the Chicago area) on Saturdays during the fall and spring. Home games are played on Long field. During the winter, practices focus on skill development and conditioning.
